Locality is the national network of ambitious and enterprising community-led organisations.
"We have over 600 members across England and they are a diverse range of community enterprises run by the community, delivering services and/or managing assets for the community. Our members are united by their enterprise and ambition to help their local neighbourhoods flourish and thrive through community enterprise."
Here is a bit more information provided by Locality:
Locality is itself a charity and social enterprise who supports current and aspiring members to promote community enterprise, community asset ownership and social action within their communities.
There’s no one sort of Locality member – they are large and small, well-established and just starting out. Examples locally include ‘The Place at Platt Lane’, a community managed library and wellbeing centre in Fallowfield, Withington Baths community-run leisure centre and Social AdVentures, who deliver a range of health and well-being services in Salford. Unicorn Grocery is an example of a local food co-op we have supported.
As a Locality member you’ll be part of a strong national network, have access to expert guidance and benefit from money-saving offers. We have a free HR advice line and legal help line. We have an annual programme of free training, regional get-togethers and an annual Convention. Members can access funding from us to cover the costs of visiting another community enterprises across the country to learn from those doing things similar to you.
We have staff based in Manchester to offer support locally and help you tap into peer support opportunities from other members doing similar things across Greater Manchester, the North West and the UK. Whether you’re a small group just starting out, or an established community enterprise, you can join Locality.
Our membership is a distinctive yet inclusive network, united by an ambition to create healthy, happy, prosperous, neighbourhoods, and developing enterprising solutions to local problems through sustainable, long-term, community-led activity.
We also have Associate membership for Parish and Town Councils, Local Authorities and other VCSE support organisations.
Keep it Local Campaign
Locality's Keep it Local campaign calls for locally-commissioned and delivered public services which provide substantially better outcomes and value than standardised, one-size-fits-all services.
Locality has produced free guides for Commissioners and Councillors and has undertaken valuable research to support this campaign which can be downloaded from their website.
