Leading contractor, Wates Construction, has launched a fresh drive to support the sustainable growth of the social enterprise (SE) sector in the region, following a best practice event with Greater Manchester Chamber of Commerce.

The partnership event, held on Tuesday 11 June, saw Wates join forces with SE champions from across Greater Manchester to discuss the ways in which businesses can work together to deliver social value across the private and public sectors.

Chaired by Professor Peter McDermott from University of Salford’s School of Built Environment, the event included a panel discussion with Greater Manchester Combined Authority Chief Executive, Eamonn Boylan, and Mo Isap, Chair of the Policy and Resource Committee at Star Academies and Su Pickerill, Group Community Investment Manager, Wates Group

The event brought together representatives from public sector organisations, private businesses and social enterprises to share insight on supporting the sustainable growth of SEs and the need to ingratiate them within the mainstream supply chain.
