We are working to provide as many opportunities as possible for people in Stockport to get involved with turning plastic waste into new things for themselves or the wider community. That includes: collecting plastic waste; cleaning and sorting it; designing and creating something new out of it. We make sure the activities are sociable and practical and suit a range of abilities and time commitments. So far we've made planters from old vinyl banners, clip boards with school children from shredding and melting bottle lids, purses and wallets from fusing together layers of plastic packaging. By designing and creating loads of opportunities for people to work together on this shared issue we can help to reduce community division and social isolation. Plastic is an amazing material so by reducing the amount we waste and reusing it for our own benefit we can help create a more sustainable, greener and cleaner society. By working together to reuse plastic locally we become better connected, happier, healthier and more resilient.
Plastic Shed bring people together in Stockport to turn plastic waste into new, useful things. From wallets made from waste plastic packaging to planters made from old vinyl banners - Plastic Shed are exploring the possibilities of this abundant waste material, sharing their learnings and finding ways for local people, from all walks of life, to get involved with tackling this shared problem.
We run creative, hands-on workshops in plastic recycling and up-cycling for businesses, schools and festivals showing people how to turn their plastic waste into quality, durable and beautiful new things such as wallets, clutch bags, planters, jewellery, notebooks, lamps - the list goes on!
Our skilled and creative facilitators can show you how to safely shred, melt, fuse and mold plastic waste into a unique piece that you can use again and again.
