It's that time of the year again. This year's #BuySocial campaign is coming up from Thursday 15th to Saturday 17th October, led by Social Enterprise UK. It's an opportunity for social enterprises across the land to spotlight their work and raise awareness of their social impact and the communities they support.

2020 has been a year like no other, with the devastating impacts of Coronavirus and all the challenges that has brought. But the pandemic has also led to a surge in mutual aid with communities coming together, connecting with each other and helping the most vulnerable. 

Many social enterprises responded to the crisis by adapting to the new needs of their communities, by providing food, care, advice & support, or by pivoting their business entirely whilst still continuing to support the people they were set up to help. 

The key campaign message for this year's #BuySocial is as follows:

'Social enterprises always put the communities they support first, living their values day in and day out, and they will continue to do so long after the pandemic is over. 

This October we are asking consumers, businesses and the public sector to show how they Choose Communities and #BuySocial'

The campaign runs over 3 days with each day having its own specific focus – set up so that whatever your social enterprise does, you can take part in the campaign:

How to get involved?

The easiest way to get involved is on social media. SEUK have prepared campaign packs for different kinds of social enterprises and also uploaded sample social media content with all the key messaging for this year's campaigning, which you can adapt as required. Whatever you're sharing, make sure you use the #BuySocial to get the campaign trending.

SEUK are encouraging we all schedule a social media post for 10am on Saturday 17th October, to create what is known as a 'thunderclap moment' to get the campaign trending online.
